My First Encounter with Psychology

The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.

Hi and welcome to Dr. Connie Woythal, Positive Psychology in Action’s blog.

Let me tell you a little bit more about me. I am the younger of two girls and grew up in the Milwaukee area. Growing up I learned to adjust to change which was a way of life for our family. We moved quite often. I attended six different elementary schools. I would leave one school one day and start the next day in a new school.  For a quiet and shy girl, I had to learn how to meet new people and leave old friends behind.

My interest in psychology occurred early and quite by accident. Not much of a reader, I liked taking new books out of the school’s library so my name would be the first one on the card. So, one day I saw a new book displayed in the school’s library — So You Want to be a Psychologist. I checked it out and read it. After reading that book, I knew that’s what I wanted to do. So that was the start of my journey with psychology.

I invite you to come along with me and learn more about psychology, more specifically positive psychology.
